The Coastland is a union of three separate Chartannian colonies– New Greenwall, Thomson's Land, and Henryia. These three colonies have long since ceased to exist as political, cultural, or geographic entities– most modern Coastlanders couldn't even name the colony their prefecture was once in– but the Coastland is still sometimes referred to as "the Union". The modern republican government of Coastland is currently divided into five prefectures. Each prefecture is further divided into sepats. The Coastland also holds a few overseas territories, which have limited self-government, but no representation in the Continental Congress.
