Same thing, no? And pretty scary, if Takako’s the educator – I mean, I wouldn’t even want her babysitting my kids, let alone teaching them… anything other than AI programming…
oh my god this is my dream =o, I’m going to uni to study Artificial Intelligence and robotics, not too keen about the robotics bit but i’d fucking LOVE to create a sentient computer, fuck even if I was just on the team, I can’t wait to see where this is going =D also loving your art style =]
…Twenty seconds later the Chartannian police came in and bludgeoned ARIA to death for having the audacity to be a person in the Core Economic Zone without a fucking passport.
So ARIA is copying Takako to be more user friendly? That’s probably not a great idea. Takako never struck me as being much of a people person.
Hmmm Isn’t this how the first 15 minutes of those AI’s go bad stories always go? This is like seeing people in the woods saying “Let’s split up!” or “Hey, let’s check out the basement.”
Is it bad that I’m more excited to see Takako’s Cute Hair Medley than Aria’s Journey to Adulthood/Sentience? I am a terrible nerd. adsfghjk everything about this page is adorable

Well, I was more excited about drawing that part too :V
Tessa: Aria describes herself as a “neurotic AI” — do you think HAL 9000 or WOPR or SkyNet would have that much wisdom, let alone sense of humour? (Marvin the Paranoid Android might, come to think of it.) This isn’t an “AI’s go bad story”, but a Woody Allen movie.
It’s entirely possible that I’ve developed a crush on blue-streak Takako. It looks like her marriage to her work did end up with a lovechild of sorts. So freakin cool.
Can I just say I find these sorts of storylines hilariously entertaining? AIs may not work like this, but damn if it isn’t interesting anyway.
Ah well. Maybe it’s ridiculously anthropomorphic because it’s a neural reconstruction of some kind? The idea of an AI having capabilities that it’s designer didn’t know about is so 1990s TV.
Ah well, maybe heliothaumic programming includes a magical component? That would make sense.
Interesting — Aria’s image of of Takako was taken sometime between the last flashback and now, rather than being based on her present appearance. Judging by the hair length anyway. Or will Aria update her avatar now?
Anyway, ARIA’s image of Takako was based on what was ARIA’s latest available footage of Takako when Erin was giver her the instructions. She probably won’t bother updating it unless instructed to, since she was just told to look like a person, not impersonate Takako in any sort of specific way.
“I didn’t build an AI, I educated a person!”

Person? What of free will, anti-slavery laws, ethical considerations?
They don’t know that ARIA is actually sentient, just lifelike. But then, you don’t know if I’m actually sentient either.
Oooh, how I like that your standard characterdesign is so distinctively different from human physiognomy!
I like the peek into the last 7 years or so of Takako’s fashion trends.
The really sad thing is that she had all of those hairstyles in the space of like two years.

every nerd’s wet dream :P

I want to say something coherent but I just keep staring at Yun-ah instead.
Bow chicka bow. Please Ms. Scientist lady will you come home with me?
Nish: Look at the tag page for Yun-ah. It appears she’s lost weight since then.
That’s A shame. Yun-Ah is more attractive looking on this page than in the other pages.
congrats, you’re a mommy. That is how you build an AI…

Hi, Adama! Loved you in Caprica last week!

Lovely way to combine both meanings of the word “emulate” into a single instance…
