P.S. I tried doing what Takako’s doing with her left arm in panel 5, and it’s incredibly awkward/painful.

Then you’re doing it wrong. I can do it without problems. (It is a very strange gesture, though. Scratching the corner of your lower jaw, fine, but while holding your thumb behind your ear? What is that complication good for?)
If it hurts to hold your hand the way Tomako does in panel 5 then you must have severe arthritis, because its quite easy and comfortable.
I would have to agree with Midnight. The angle of the hand is extremely awkward. It ought to be angled upwards rather than downwards. However we have seen how incredibly flexible Takako’s wrists are in previous comics.
It is pretty ok, if you are kind of lying down. Not even unnatural. (But I also have flexible wrists.)
