One moment they’re sitting in café talking about possible careers for their alternate-history selfs and suddenly this? Not even a random millionth sub-plot page in between?

You know, sometimes that little bit of argument is ok/good. Shows the lady that you’re not jumping into the situation pants first.

In a flash-back time can be a bit erratic. There are enough hints that time has passed, in that Takako has added stripes to her hair and their clothes has changed.
On the other hand, the last panel of the previous page confused me a bit.

Hey, these are important questions. If I were in Takako’s shoes, I’d want them resolved. I don’t know if I could sleep with someone who was morally or politically opposed to manned space travel.

I like this scene. And the jump in time between this page and the one before is jarring, but surmountable.
The part that is confusing the *hell* out of me is *why are the people in the penultimate panel on the previous page wearing exactly what Takako and Buntaro are in this one?*
Barring one of those comedy movie hit-someone-over-the-head-and-steal-their-clothes scenarios, I cannot wrap my head around this.

Because I was a complete dunce with coloring, that’s why. Suits and kimonos are both pretty common items of clothing in Kyokan– I just forgot that I’d already had a pink and yellow kimono on the page right before this one when I was figuring out what color I’d make Takako’s yukata here.
