I’m actually quite liking the colouring here. I wish I were cognizant enough of what I’m seeing to explain why I like it though. It’s sometimes embarrassing not to be an artist when looking at art.
Cassandra and the still-life of the apple are very cute. ;-)
The difference with the coloring is that I went from hard-edged cell-shading, to using a soft-edged coloring style, like I used in the Great Struggle flashback and in a few of the earlier strips. While I love the way cel-shaded stuff looks in general, I was increasingly dissatisfied with how it looked in Heliothaumic in particular. That last scene in Ilthmir in particular would’ve benefited from soft-shading, I think.
Anyway, I’m glad you like it. This takes a little bit more time to do, but not so much more that it’s a hassle.
