This is why officers try not to stand out in combat.

  2. UVcatastrophe

The good Cpt. does seem like a ponce. I particularly enjoy his juxtaposition with the statuary in panel 4.

  3. Tamayo

I’m a bit surprised at panel four: poncey captains don’t often take suggestions from uppity privates, do they?

  4. Tamayo

whoa, I mean panel one, don’t I. hm. 1 /= 4, except in rings of characteristic three, hmmm……

  5. UVcatastrophe

I think he is actually too overcome with nationalistic fervor to even pay much attention. He seems the fervent type. Odds on his patriotic demise in the next installment?

  6. Sam Pagan

Haha I love how they’re having such a casual conversation and then you see the sniper

So he actually does bring a sword to a gunfight.

    Banzai… “10,000 years old”… “may the Emperor become 10,000 years old [and I not]“…

  8. RMG

“Jiyuu banzai!” means (basically) “Long live freedom!”. It was, apparently, used by pro-democracy activist types in Meiji Era Japan. I should note that although I have studied Meiji Japan a fair bit in actual classes, this particular factoid I learned on Wikipedia. :V

    @Tamayo

Korekiyo’s lack of respect for Fujiwara is indicative of the fact that the incompetence of the Kyokan Federal States Army’s officer corps became apparent to those beneath them on the chain of command much sooner than it did to the waistcoated civilian leaders of the war effort back in Kyogawa.

I sort of like drawing Korekiyo, and look forward to maybe drawing her some more in the future.

I take it that red diamond = medic?

  11. brashieel

The helmet/armor combo keeps making me smile a little.

    Ah. :-]
